In line with religious references
Build a well of knowledge to draw on
Without expecting a fraction of return and profit
The soul of the leader he always holds
Carry out the mandate as deputy mayor
Does not detract from the interests of the state

Prof. Dr. Drs. Mohammad Zainuddin, M.Pd. a well-known figure in the Blitar community. In 2000-2005 he accompanied Djarot Saiful Hidayat to lead the City of Blitar. On the sidelines, he also handled the PDAM which was nearly bankrupt. His desire to serve led him to establish schools. Besides that, as an only child, he did not want to have few children. How is the story? Check out her story in the following Communications Crew interview!
How did you start your career?
I used to be from SPG, because there were new regulations, I automatically adjusted and had to go to college again. As a lecturer, I have to adjust to the times. I became a lecturer in 1990. In 1998, I studied for S-2, and after graduating, I was appointed as Campus Program Implementing Coordinator (KPP) for four years. First autonomy, I took a leave of absence because I was the deputy mayor in 2000-2005. After my term of office ended, I went to S3 again. I had to pursue an academic position even though it was extremely difficult.
Apart from being a lecturer, you have also established schools and even colleges. Which schools and colleges have you established?
I have founded three schools. SD Islam Kardina Massa in 1995, SD Islam Kota Blitar in 1998, and SD Islam Ma'arif Plosokerep in 2006. I was also asked to fix MI Nurul Huda Ngadirejo. For higher education, I have established the Nahdlatul Ulama University (UNU) Blitar in 2016.
What underlies you to build it all?
I just want to serve. If we start a school, there are certainties. The key is sincere and what it is. If you build a school, you don't want to have a sense of belonging, you can be enthusiastic later. Like UNU, now I am the chancellor, when it is good, then who can continue.
How did you get elected to be the vice mayor of Blitar?
At the beginning of the implementation of regional autonomy, I served in 2000-2005. Fortunately, at that time (the rule, red.) Did not have to resign from the Civil Servant (PNS).
Does that mean you accompanied Pak Djarot Saiful Hidayat?
Yes. I became deputy mayor at no cost.
Previously you were also a director at PDAM, how did you become a director of PDAM?
At that time, the PDAM suffered a loss. I became the deputy mayor, so I was assigned the mayor to become the director of the PDAM to fix the administration. Even though I am a basic teacher. I get inspiration from reading Gus Dur's autobiography. How to learn by calling. I called the head of financial management, engineering, marketing, and equipment. I said, please make a plan. Then I discussed with the experts. I made a conclusion, PDAM is a product of water, it is not collapsed. Why does the tool often break? It turned out that the incentives were inadequate. So with him (one of the employees) the machine was sounded all day long. If it is damaged, he is happy because the cost of damage can be made splattered. Finally I fixed it. After one year, the debt was finally paid off. Because it's getting better, I don't want to go there, it's my job as deputy mayor.
During the meeting, everyone was shocked. "Why do you know Pak Zainuddin so well?" Even though I learned from them. When I became a director I didn't have to be paid, because I was paid to be a deputy mayor. Work must be honest and sincere, the secret is there.
How can you be successful in starting a family?
Incidentally I was given the gift of fifteen biological children. The key is serving the community or serving the family. There is cooperation between father and mother. Must be full of patience that all that is assigned is a gift. Surely Allah will make it easy, it is impossible to put a burden on his people. If you weren't sure from the start, let alone having fifteen children, even three children were already confused. It must be convinced to the wife because the wife will usually complain.
How do you and your wife care for your fifteen sons and daughters?
After 10 days of giving birth, we entrusted it to our neighbors. Every week we come, give milk and baby needs. After the children were five-six years old we took them. If we care for ourselves, it is impossible, because every year we have children. There are five houses that we leave.
Is your wife working?
Working, he used to be a kindergarten teacher, because he had an S-1, he transferred to SMK. So that the image of the child society does not hinder studying, I sent another D3 to the PGRI Blitar Teacher Training and Education College (STKIP), S-1 in Malang, S-2 at UM English Department. Now S-3 at Sebelas Maret University (UNS). He gave an example to the children, that children should not be made a burden. Allah will raise his degree for those who study. Demanding knowledge is mandatory. When school is over, we must continue to study anywhere. Demanding knowledge is part of life, not just a kind of coercion.
Message for UM students?
Students, if studying, don't just study on campus. Also learn socially. Moreover, studying religious life is much more important to inspire future life. Shintiya
