Moment in Lens: Time for New Members to Lift the Camera
The Photography Enthusiasts Student Association (Himafo) State University of Malang (UM) is again holding its 35th post-training exhibition. This annual activity held by Himafo aims to find out the basic abilities of new members after attending basic training. Besides that, the new member of class 35 was also taught how to organize an event. So it is not surprising that the composition of the organizing committee consists of Himafo members totaling 40 students. "Learning to be an event organizer is also in addition to an exhibition," said Alya, one of the exhibition committee.
As they get older, these UKM can better maintain and maintain the culture of exhibitions which have been held for the 35th time. In addition, from year to year the works produced by many of Himafo's young photographers are also getting more and more interesting. Arranged with a black-and-white room concept, the exhibition space feels wider than its original size. Visitors who come are not only spoiled by various charming photos but also displays of interesting places to snap.
With the theme "Moments in the Lens", the exhibition was attended by 33 members with a total of 70 photos on display. Before being exhibited, the photos must pass a curator selection so that they are suitable for display in the Soeparno Gallery (UM UKM Hall). This year, the curators involved, among others, are Ajik Rohmansyah, Ramasyah Putra, and Rifki Yulian Achmad who are seniors at Himafo. Next, one favorite photo will be selected as a result of the visitors' ratings each day.
The exhibition lasted for six days, namely on (11-16 / 02). Visitors can already see the exhibition from 10.00 WIB to 21.30 WIB. No entrance ticket is charged for visitors. Usually, the more the evening, the more visitors will arrive. "The photos are good, the place is too, the arrangement is photogenic," said Fentrilia, one of the visitors who was paying attention to one of the photos made by Himafo's children.
After the post-training exhibition, Himafo will hold a workshop as a continuation of the exhibition activities on (16/02/2019) along with the closing of the exhibition. Visitors can have a direct dialogue with young photographer Himafo about photo techniques or the meaning behind the photos on display. Of course, all groups, whether photography enthusiasts or not are allowed to take part in the workshop.
For new Himafo members, the post-training exhibition is used as an initial place to express themselves before being forged with various educational training in photography and videography for the next three months, as well as exhibitions on a larger scale. In line with this, Alya revealed that there are still many activities. Later there will also be a post-education exhibition which will be held after Himafo members have received education for three months. Nikma
