Various Surprise Color Taekwondo Anniversary
Celebrating its 38th anniversary, Student Activity Unit (UKM) Taekwondo (TKD) State University of Malang (UM) received various surprises. The surprise came from the TKD team who won 12 gold medals in the 2019 Surabaya Mayor's Cup Taekwondo Championship on (19-21 / 4). The medal was a special gift for them. With the guidance of four UM trainers, Karina Permatasari, Alvan Nahari, Donna Novianto, S.Pd., and Ahmad Bagus Perkasa, S.Pd., this year UM sent 30 of its best athletes to compete on the red and blue mattress. They consist of 16 kyorugi (fighting) athletes and 14 poomsae (art) athletes. Held at Giri Loka UPN Veteran Sports Hall, Surabaya, this championship was attended by taekwondo athletes from East Java (East Java) and also four invitational provinces from outside East Java.
Very unexpected news also came from athletes who were struggling in the championship. Galih Katon Pamungkas, one of the kyorugi athletes, suffered a fracture in his hand. Even so, Galih admitted that he did not give up on taking part in the TKD match in the next championship. UKM Assistant, Dr. Sapto Adi, M.Kes. reminded that achieving an ideal requires hard effort, sacrifice and a structured plan. "There must be targets that are continuously strived to achieve, there is no word of giving up and must continue to practice," he said when met some time ago.

Another surprise came at the UKM anniversary celebration which coincided with the holy month of Ramadan. Taking advantage of this moment, UKM TKD held "UKM Berbagi" to train social sensitivity and a sense of caring for others. Wearing a Tosca-gray jacket and carrying kerdus filled with takjil, they were ready to spread to several points in Malang.
It did not stop there, a thanksgiving event was held the following day. The Chief Executive, Iffa Maisyaroh coordinates the event regularly. The highlight of the TKD UKM Anniversary was marked by cutting the tumpeng by the Chairperson of the TKD UKM, Teguh Prasetyo, a student of the Faculty of Sports Science. Attended by administrators, demisioners, and coaches, this event went on smoothly and was full of warmth.
The celebration that night turned heartwarming when two sabeumnim (coaches, ed.), Ahmad Bagus and Karina said goodbye to all UKM members not to train for a while because they had to focus on pursuing their dreams. “Stay diligent and don't get tired of practicing. Hopefully your tiredness and sweat will be a blessing and receive the best possible reward from Allah SWT, ”said Ahmad Bagus to the athletes and administrators. Prayers and hopes were offered wholeheartedly for the benefit of them and UKM TKD in the future. Behind all of that, athletes, coaches, and UKM administrators try to continue to share and build friendship even though the holy month has changed.
