The Malang State University (UM) student dormitory successfully held the 2019 Dormitory Festival. The event which took place lively on (21 / 03–03 / 04) with the theme "Spirit of Work and Real Action in Creating Smart, Creative, and Caring Young Generation. ". Although the event is held every year, there is something different about the hostel scene this time. This year, the event became even more lively with the merging of two major events including festival dormitories (afes) and social service in the 2019 Dormitory Festival series.
The event which aims to strengthen the kinship of UM dormitory members is also used as an arena to hone students' abilities, as proven by a series of competitions being held. The series of activities started with a tartil competition, general quiz, calligraphy, talent search dormitory (AMB), futsal, dormitory bazaar, photo contest, blood donation, social service in Wiyurejo village, Pujon District, Malang Regency, and closed with a Fashion Dorm. Show (AFS). The event which was opened by the dorm supervisor, Agus Hartono, S.Pd. was filled with enthusiasm from the dormitory's extraordinary residents. In line with this, the Chief Executive of the Dormitory Festival, Al Karomah Sihafuddin or familiarly called Alka said that the enthusiasm of the hostel residents was very visible at the peak event. During the Dormitory Fashion Show competition, every resident of the hostel is required to wear traditional clothes in Indonesia. At the danar donor event, the donors are already queuing before the blood donation opens.
Dormitory celebrations do not only involve hostel residents. The general public can participate in social service events and blood donations. Even though the event was separated between male and female dormitories, the committee totaled 77 people who came from boarding housekeepers and several dormitory residents who participated in open recruitment were able to handle well until the event was over. "There are no too big obstacles at the event this time, only when the social service for the field to enter the location is quite difficult," said Alka.
The hostel event was closed with the announcement of the winners and the distribution of prizes at the Joint Lecture Building of the Faculty of Education. Closed by the Head of Dormitory Subdivision, Drs. Suharmanto, M.Pd., the closing ceremony was accompanied by AFS starting at 08.00-14.00. "The activity is very exciting, especially during social service, it's nice to be able to share with each other," said Fitrah Listianing Rahayu, a participant of the 2019 Dormitory Festival.
