UM "Gemakarsata" Encourages Students to Have Positive Output
Monday (20/5), to coincide with the 15th of Ramadan 1440 Hijriah, State University of Malang (UM) has strengthened its cooperation with mass media in Malang City. A total of 25 invited guests who attended the event came from internal and external UM. The event which took place at the 1st floor of the UM Rectorate Graha is a form of the openness of UM as a university that continues to improve

quality as one of the prestigious universities in Malang.
As the statement made by the UM Rector, Prof. Dr. AH. Rofi'uddin, M.Pd., with this openness, it is hoped that the press publications will be more intense, both from internal and external UM. The publications that MUs try to raise include activities at MUs. Apart from that, the press is also expected to supervise positive activities taking place on campus. The activities referred to are competitions or awards that involve students' interests in the fields of science, arts, and sports.

The event which was held by UM Public Relations was also a manifestation of UM's congress regarding the program "Student Movement One Work Within a Year" (Gemakarsata) which UM began to promote. As the name implies, this program is one of UM's efforts to pump student creativity to have a positive output. Each student is expected to have the output to boost the publication of the work of UM students so that it is better known to the wider community, especially in Malang City. Rofi'uddin emphasized that this program was not subject to specific targets related to its participants. This means that all active UM students can participate and publish at least one work a year according to their field of knowledge. He also explained that this program would not be included in the semester credit unit (SKS) because it would burden student learning outcomes.
This policy is considered as an added value strategy that can spur UM students' desire to have the opportunity to become the best academic and non-academic graduates. The entire work will later become one of the academic requirements when administering the judiciary. Students can use it as a certificate for companion diploma (SKPI) which came into effect in the 2019/2020 school year. "Every graduate at UM will have a certificate companion certificate issued by a certificate institution, so that when involved in society, the certificate can be an added value for graduates who answer the needs of society," said the Indonesian Language Postgraduate lecturer.
Regarding the Gemakarsata program, the two-term UM Chancellor hopes that the program can become the identity or characteristic of each department and study program (prodi) in UM. "As many as 119 study programs, it is hoped that each of them will become a specialist in their field and this needs to be highlighted from UM," he added. After opening the dialogue between UM leaders and representatives of the mass media who were present, the 45-minute event was continued with a photo session and iftar together. Flower
