MENWA UM DRIVES CHAMPION CATEGORY JALAKA PALAGRI IV
As one of the prestigious high schools in Malang City, students of the State University of Malang (UM) have not finished making academic and non-academic achievements. One of them is the Student Activity Unit of the Student Regiment Unit (UKM Menwa) which won all award categories in the 2019 Jalaka Palagri competition. The individual agility competition for members of the student regiment throughout Indonesia lasted for two days (13-14 / 07). This competition is an agenda every two years held by the University of Jember (Unej) and attended by 70 members of the Menwa unit from 26 universities in Indonesia.
Competitions that were contested in this competition included military skills at Rindam V Brawijaya's Bintara Candidate School (Secaba). Various kinds such as land navigation, rope crawling, rope bridge, field health, throwing knives and axes, unloading pairs of weapons, and cross country running. What's different this year, Jalaka Palagri IV also opened the essay competition. The theme taken was "The Role of Menwa in Creating a Generation that is Tough and with a Pancasila Spirit in Preparing for National Development in the Era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0". This is certainly a progression in itself in the Menwa unit competition, because it does not only match the physical abilities that unit members absolutely have, but also their ingenuity in thinking.
Since 2018 UKM Menwa UM has participated in the Palagri Jalaka competition and was able to win second place in the cross country competition. In its second participation in this competition, the Menwa UM team won five championship categories, namely second winner for agility and third winner in women's cross country by Fina Nur Safitri, second winner in the cross country competition in the women's category and third in the essay competition by Dita Novita Sari, champion two hiking for the male category by Muhammad Linggar Eka Prasetya.
Several universities, both public and private, took part in this competition, such as Airlangga University (Unair), Semarang State University (Unnes), Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University (UIN) Malang, Merdeka Madiun University, UIN Walisongo Semarang, Surabaya State University and many more. Obtaining an award as a champion is certainly not without effort. Members of the Menwa UM unit who became the delegates maximized their training ahead of the competition. According to a delegation from the Jalaka Palagri Menwa UM team, preparations have been made since the 14th day of the race. Routine training is carried out in the morning or evening and is directly guided by a member of the 71st batch of senior UM Menwa units, Avi Kusuma Fatkur.

This prestigious competition that brings together Indonesian Menwa units is a place for meeting as well as gathering and sharing experiences between seniors and juniors.
