Novart: Shade Colors in Works
Carrying out a theme "Culture Shock", The Art Department Student Association (HMJ Sedesa) State University of Malang (UM) held an exhibition entitled November Art or Novart 2019. The exhibition was held at the Sasana Krida UM Building for three days (5-7 / 11). Nisrina Habibah as the Novart 2019 curatorial laboratory team chose the theme "Mbeledozz" by discussing issues culture shock. According to him, the existence of cultural changes globally makes humans have to be good at adjusting. "Not infrequently there is surprise when in a new environment," he said.

Novart is a biennial event that is held if the end of the management of HMJ Sedesa is in an odd year. However, if the management of HMJ Sedesa ends in even years, it will be closed with an art party. Novart is staying as a bigger event than an art party because the four study programs in the Sedesa Department take part in it. Opening the discourse of contemporary art in Malang is the goal of holding Novart. Not only showing off paintings, installations perform art also served at Novart.
More specifically, Novart exhibits works from three groups, namely from submission artists, commission artists, and incubation artists. Creation submission artists is the result open submission which is open to the public one month before the implementation. The committee also invited Walf and Mas Tuyul because their works represented Novart's discourse, there were also Aswot and Trifoid, the work of Sedesa students class 2017 and 2018 which were included in commission artists. While the category works incubation artists is a collaboration of the work of non-Sedesa students, such as a cooking demonstration performance from a Culinary Department student entitled Rancak Bana. The Department of History, English Literature and other departments also participated in Novart.
The Novart exhibition is open from 10 am to 9 pm. The ticket price on the first and second day is IDR 10,000, while for the third or last day IDR 25,000. “The ticketing is an appreciation from visitors for the works presented by the artists who participated in this Novart event. The ticketing also introduces the general public to the current creative economy, "said Reza as the event coordinator.

At the peak of the Novart event, visitors were treated to various entertainment, such as perform art and the guest stars. There are Balebestari, Angkasara, Rainforest, Remissa, and Fox in the South. On the last day there was also a distribution of prizes for the winners of the competition War On Wall or graffiti. "Novart's current target is only for student to student," said Reza. However, Novart's success can be seen from the enthusiasm of the audience, who are not only students, but high school students are also seen enjoying the series of events. Furthermore, the committee hopes that the general public and the younger generation, especially those in Malang, can find out about the creative economy that is being intensively active in Indonesia through the art and design ecosystem created in the exhibition.
