There is something different in organizing the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) for the 2020/2021 school year. As a result of the Covid-19 pandemic situation, PKKMB 2020 activities are carried out online (online) through the official website pkkmb.um.ac.id and can be accessed anytime and anywhere (asynchronous) for four consecutive days (21-24 / 09) .
The agenda on the first day (21/09) begins with an opening (opening ceremony) which is presented through a video containing a series of events. The 25-minute video begins with a profile and a brief history of UM, followed by symbolically embedding the alma mater jacket through a unique scenario. In this scenario, a student and female student are at their domicile, each of whom receives a package containing the complete attributes of UM which are their identities and identities. Furthermore, the two students received a phone call from the UM Rector, Prof. Dr. AH. Rofi'uddin, M.Pd, who congratulated them and stated that they were officially part of the UM academic community. "Even though we cannot meet physically, it does not reduce the meaning for all of you to continue learning and working," he ordered in the middle of his speech.
There was also a speech from the Minister of Education and Culture, Nadiem Makarim, who also introduced the "Independent Campus." The video closes with clips showing the atmosphere of the UM campus, as well as the jingle of Cakrawala which has a cheerful and enthusiastic tone.
Thalia, a new student of the Faculty of Social Sciences, was impressed by the video of the opening ceremony that was presented. "I immediately wanted to go to campus," he said excitedly.
After watching the opening video, students can access four university materials and work on them in accordance with the guidelines given on the PKKMB UM 2020 website. The first material is entitled "Welcoming a Golden Indonesia 2045" and delivered by Dr. Harjono, SH, MCL as a member of the KPK Supervisory Board. The second material is the material for the development of the mental revolution national movement as explained by Prof. Dr. Sukowiyono, Chairman of the UM Senate. The third material by Prof. Dr. Budi Eko Soetjipto (Vice Rector I UM) discussed the higher education system and the discussion about the Independent Campus was also included in it. The last material presented by I Wayan Dasna, Ph.D. (Chairperson of LP3 UM) contains about UM's identity as the Learning University as well as the UM curriculum in the era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0.
