FT UM Bring Home 4 Wins at ICCI 2020
The contingent from the Faculty of Engineering (FT) State University of Malang (UM) won proud achievements in the 2020 International Conference on Creativity and Innovation (ICCI). The event was held by the University of Malaysia Perlis (Unimap) at Eastin Makkasan Hotel, Bangkok on (3-4 / 2). In total there were four teams sent by FT UM. The team fronted by Defa Gilang Ramadhan and Sanjaya Silvia from Civil Engineering Study Program won the Silver Medal. Another team consisting of Sunsya Putri and Fadhila from the Industrial Technology Study Program won the Gold Medal. Meanwhile, Ria Febrianti and Syafirah Aisyah from the Electrical Engineering Study Program won in two categories at once, namely the Double Gold Medal and The Best Invention and Innovation.
Not instantaneously, the selection process begins by sending an entry form. "It's kind of abstract," said Syafirah, winner of the Double Gold Medal. "If the abstract passes, we will receive an e-mail from the organizer. Participants who pass will then be sent to make a presentation, ”he continued. The team supervised by Dr. Eng. It took Anik Nur Handayani ten days to prepare everything. According to Syafirah, the biggest challenge in the competition was the need to present their work in English. “Initially we also lacked confidence in public speaking. However, with the help of our supervisors and training with several seniors, we were able to make presentations on the D-day smoothly, ”said Syafirah sharing her experiences. When the winner was announced, his team was discouraged. This is because all contingents from UM have won medals, while they have not been summoned. "It was incredible when we were announced as winners at the last moment," he added.
As one of the students who succeeded in making the alma mater proud, Syafirah hoped that her achievements would not stop here. He also hopes that the younger generation can continue to spur the spirit to compete to face global challenges. “Don't be afraid to try even if you don't have experience. Creating new innovations for a better nation, no matter how small an idea means a lot, "he said. "Even though your idea is considered strange it's okay, the important thing is do your best," he concluded excitedly.Zahira
